Above and beyond church records

In November 2024 I had the pleasure to be one of the speakers at the IGG Italian Genealogical Group Virtual Conference (https://www.italiangen.org/)

I contributed with a video about Italian parish records, where I explained how to read documents in Italian and in Latin.

I just published the full video of the virtual conference on YouTube.

In this tutorial am telling how to discover if the family address or the ancestor’s job are mentioned, or to understand if a relative or parent was dead or alive at the moment of the record.

I am showing how to spot troublesome births, marriages between cousins, and unusual causes of deaths, and I am revealing a few tricks

If you watch it and find it useful for your research, let me know!

I will follow up with other two videos:

  1. How to spot if an ancestor was an abandoned baby (an important part which I forgot in this video!)
  2. Update to 2026 A.I. (in this video I am suggesting how to use it, but in the meantime much has changed with A.I. and I will update my suggestions)
